Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal Lays Foundation Stone for Archdiocesan Palliative Care and Old Age Home at Marikunnu
Kozhikode: His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Varghese Chakkalakal, Archbishop of Calicut, laid the foundation stone for the new Archdiocesan Palliative Care and Old Age Home at Marikunnu on Sunday, 16 August 2026.
The foundation-stone laying ceremony marked an important step in the Archdiocese of Calicut’s commitment to caring for the sick, the elderly, and those in need of compassionate support. The proposed centre aims to provide care, comfort, and dignity to people requiring palliative care and elderly persons.
Archbishop Chakkalakal blessed the foundation stone and prayed for God’s guidance and blessings upon the construction and future ministry of the centre. He encouraged all those involved in the initiative to continue the Church’s mission of compassionate service and care for the most vulnerable.
The ceremony was held at Marikunnu at 5:00 p.m., in the presence of clergy, religious, well-wishers, and members of the faithful. The Archdiocese expressed gratitude to all those who support this charitable initiative through their prayers and cooperation.
